  • Marshall L. Olney is an attorney whose practice centers on aviation and transportation finance, U.S. Customs and international trade (CBP), and corporate transactions, including middle-market M&A and growth financings. He advises clients on domestic and cross-border matters involving aircraft acquisition, financing, leasing, and export, and he counsels businesses and investors on trade-facing transactions where compliance posture, documentation discipline, and commercial timelines are critical.

    Marshall’s aviation practice is informed by his experience in both civil and military aviation. He supports aircraft and aviation-adjacent clients in structuring and documenting acquisitions and dispositions, leasing and finance transactions, and business arrangements related to ownership and operations. He holds an FAA Airline Transport Pilot (ATP) certificate and maintains a long-standing operational perspective that helps align transaction terms with real-world operational constraints. 

    Marshall’s CBP and trade practice includes advising on customs compliance and dispute pathways, including classification, valuation, country-of-origin determinations, administrative protests, drawback planning, and enforcement-related matters such as cargo holds and seizures. He also works on matters involving IEEPA tariff refunds and the practical mechanics of recovery within the customs system. He has passed the U.S. Customs Broker exam and has applied for a customs broker license.  

    Marshall is admitted to practice law in California and is also admitted as a Solicitor in England and Wales. His international practice includes matters involving China, Japan, and Southeast Asia.
