JJ is a results-oriented strategic thinker. He has demonstrated his proactive and creative abilities with the successful startup, launch and exit of several companies. His energetic leadership style builds consensus and commitment by valuing and empowering his team.
JJ had a significant impact on profitability, efficiency and growth in various divisions at McDonald Douglas, Boeing, TRW, and Experian, among other companies, in various technology leading roles. He founded and was the managing director of a private equity firm focused on acquiring, restructuring, and adding value to distressed and underperforming companies for the benefit of shareholders and stakeholders where he led negotiations, acquisitions, restructuring, growth and sale of the acquired businesses.
As the founder and CEO of Pismo Ventures, JJ has been involved in every aspect of analyzing, assessing and performing due diligence on early-stage companies seeking investment for the purpose of either investing, syndicating, or offering advisory services. Further, JJ has been providing fractional management consulting services to help companies restructure, grow, create value, or exit. He served in senior executive restructuring and turnaround roles including interim CEO and fractional COO for businesses at various stages. He is also a CEPA – Certified Exit Planning Advisor.
JJ is a venture capital and private equity investor, a longtime member of TCA Venture Group where he currently serves as its Chief Technology Officer on the Board of Governors and has served as its vice president and a member of its executive committee. JJ has served on numerous board of directors for profit and not for profit organizations. JJ dedicates significant time helping and mentoring entrepreneurs and business owners.
